Part of the Philosophy of the Daniels Voice Studio is communication, and part of that communication is hearing what others have to say about their experience. You are encouraged to read through what others have to say about working with David Daniels.

What Others Have To Say

Studio Collaborative Pianst

As a collaborative pianist, I've worked with numerous voice teachers over the years, but few have impressed me as much as David Daniels. His students improve exponentially after working with him and he brings the experience of his world-class career to each lesson.

He teaches in a way that supports healthy singing while encouraging artistic risk, all while respecting the style and language.

Equally impressive is his collaborative spirit. He treats pianists as partners, not accompanists, which allows for exploration between singer and coach. Every session felt like a team effort, with mutual respect and shared artistry at its core.

In five lessons so far, David has helped me tremendously as a vocalist. I am a young tenor who sings in both classical and contemporary styles, and David’s clear approach to the breath, vocal exercises, the passaggio, vowels, and all things vocal technique has simplified my approach to singing, and it has allowed my body to take care of my singing. I always know I’ll learn something new in each lesson with David. I highly recommend you work with David to take your singing to the next level!

Working with David has been one of the most transformative experiences of my vocal journey. His curiosity about the voice is never-ending—he’s always exploring new ways to bring out the most authentic sound in each singer. He has a remarkable gift for hearing exactly what someone needs and crafting vocalises that target challenges with precision and care. His deep understanding of musicality and language has elevated not just my technique, but my artistry. I feel as though my ability to communicate has grown exponentially from his teaching.

What sets David apart, though, is more than just his technical brilliance. He has offered me steady, thoughtful guidance in my career and has helped me navigate both artistic and professional choices with clarity and confidence. His support is unwavering, and he creates an environment where growth feels not only possible but exciting. I always leave our lessons feeling seen, encouraged, and inspired. I’m incredibly grateful to work with a teacher who combines such insight, generosity, and heart.

Beginning to study with David was one of, if not, the most influential decision I have made for my career thus far. When I began to study with David, I was unsure, had a lot of technical issues, and was riddled with anxiety. Though some of those things will never completely go away, David was tremendous from lesson one in helping me wrestle with my anxiety and understanding of the voice. Within the first 15 minutes, I had already had at least 2 technical revelations that made singing much more comfortable and joyful. David will always kindly push you to your best; one of my favorite things about our lessons is that he will nitpick small things that will take the artistry to a higher level, without ever making you feel tired or uncomfortable. David is such a calming and supportive presence in lessons, as well as outside of lessons. He's always happy to chat, consult, and give advice when needed. He truly is one of the best mentors I've had the pleasure of working with, and I gladly recommend studying with him.

Studying voice with David has been the most transformational investment I have made for my career. David has the unique ability to approach teaching voice from the vantage point of both a world class singer and vocal pedagogue. This has given me immediate practical advice and also long term technical goals to work towards. Throughout our studies, David met me where I was at in my development. He has helped me release unnecessary tensions while also building a more malleable and expressive instrument Ultimately, my studies with David have made me a better artist as I have gained a technical foundation that allows me to execute the repertoire I sing and the artistic instincts I have.

David’s teaching was highly recommend to me, and it exceeded my expectations. I was going through a vocal crisis at the time and David was the right teacher at the right time. He not only helped ground my technique but - maybe more importantly - grounded my confidence. We only had a hand-full of lessons and they were immensely impactful. He used his mastery of technique to help build my vocal and psychological security. David was clear, fun, creative, and professional. His wealth of experience, vocal insights, and humility are robust attributes of an expert teacher.

I was introduced to David Daniels by a close associate of mine. He auditioned for me and truly I was blown away. Sitting next to me was one of the greatest singers of the 20th century. David showed his mettle by singing some of her repertoire. This took guts.

I only learned shortly after this audition, that David had auditioned for “vocal specialists”. They couldn’t figure out how to represent a counter-tenor. I never looked at an artists based on vocal type, or instrument speciality. I was looking for an artist that was a true artist. That is what David is. A person who is an artist connects to their audience and colleagues through their individual art. I know this is how he teaches, trying to pull that individual gift from each and every student. I am proud to have been his first manager.
